Royal Garden Party

Yesterday I attended a Royal garden Party at Buckingham palace. It poured with rain all day, but in true British Spirit the party went ahead. There were about 7,000 members of the Red Cross in attendance.

We entered through the main gates and, after security checks, we crossed to the courtyard and entered the Palace through the main entrance. (the same entrance you may have seen when charles and Diana married). The Entrance Hall was surprisingly plain, with red carpets and Gold banisters on the stairs leading up. we crossed through to a room at the rear which had some very beautiful displays of porcelain and several very large portraits.

From that room we entered the garden, and WHAT a garden! it was more like a park! the lawn was immaculately cut and there was a Long (400ft) tea tent for the guests, with 2 smaller ones for the Royals and the Diplomats.

Tea was served all afternoon, there were a wonderful selection of cakes and sandwiches. the most elaborate was a small chocolate cake which was decorated with the Royal crest in gold.

We had a walk around the Garden and the lake, the rose garden was especially beautiful. we then returned to the main area and stood listening to the 2 bands playing. One of the bands played "Raindrops keep falling on my head" which got everyone laughing, and, not to be outdone, the other band then played "Singing in the rain" which got a few of us dancing and singing with our brollys.

Charles and Camilla came about 4.30 and I managed to get a quick handshake, after walking around meeting the guests, the Royal party retired to the Royal tent at 5,30 to take tea.

The party ended at 6.00 and we then left the Palace and went to St james park opposite where we had a glass or 2 of champagne before departing for home.

All in all it was a fantastic experience, and for me it felt even more uniquely british by the fact that the whole event took place in the pouring rain, and yet there wasn't an unhappy face to be seen.

Another poem for Mum

There is always a face before me,
A voice I would love to hear,
A smile I will always remember,
Of a Mother I loved so dear.
Deep in my heart lies a picture,
More precious than silver or gold,
It's a picture of my Mother,
Whose memory will never grow old

To Mum

.They say memories are golden, well maybe that is true,
I never wanted memories, i only wanted you,
A million times ive needed you, a million times ive cried,
If love alone could of saved you, you never would have died,
In my body i loved you dearly, in death i love you still,
In my heart you hold a place no one could ever fill,
If tears could build a stairway and heartache make a lane,
I'd walk the path to heaven and bring you back again,
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,
But as we're called one by one, the chain will link again...

Poem for Mum

God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be.
So he put his arms around you and whispered
"Come with me."
With tearful eyes we watched you suffer
and saw you fade away.
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hardworking hands to rest;
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best

Mum, we miss you so very much, You are back in Dads arms where you belong.

With all our Love,

Rowley and Diane XXX

Bye Mum

Mum passed away at 4.20 this morning. Crying

She had a fall a week ago and fractured her wrist, she had been having pains in her back as well, but other than that She seemed fine. My Sister visited her on Friday and found her very poorly, Mum was admitted to Hospital and I visited Her yesterday. When we left, Mum had seemed OK, she was having trouble keeping fluids down but looked as though she was improving.I went home expecting her to keep improving, but sadly she was too weak and she passed away this morning.

I just feel so bad that I left her, I wish with all my heart that I had stayed, when she needed me most I wasn't there for her the way she had been for me in times when I needed her. I never had chance to say goodbye and tell her how much I loved her.

Mum, I miss you so much, I know that you are in a nicer place, free from pain, and back in dads arms.

I LOVE YOU MUM Red heartIMG_1867

Sad day, Happy Day

Got up this morning and got Hollys Broccoli out, Then remembered She was not with us anymore. Sad

Buried Holly in the corner of the garden kept for our little ones, the second hard thing I have had to do in the last 24 hrs. But I think shes happy now, free of pain, but it still hurts not having her around.

Decided to get another Hamster, We went to Pet Paks at Hardwick and found a real sweetie, held her in the shop and she was so friendly and inquisitive, we knew we just HAD to have her.  So, meet Hunny, our latest little one Open-mouthed

Goodbye Holly

There's something missing in my home,
I feel it day and night,
I know it will take time and strength
Before things feel quite right.

But just for now, I need to mourn,
My heart-it needs to mend.
Though some may say "It's just a pet"
I know I have lost a friend.

You've brought much laughter to my home,
And richness to my days.
A constant friend through joy or loss,
With gentle, loving ways.

Companion, pal, and confidante,
A friend I won't forget.
You'll live for always in my heart,
My sweet forever pet....

Farewell Holly darling, I'm gonna miss you. Rest in Peace.
